Stilt Fishing

Mirissa Stilt Fishing is one of the most popular and historic seashore sights of Sri Lanka. The stilt fishing method is very rare, where the fishermen position themselves cleverly on wooden poles planted in shallow water near the shore. They cast their lines from stilts to catch small fish such as mackerel and spotted herrings.
