Sri Lankan Attraction Statue of Parakramabahu

Statue of Parakramabahu

The giant statue of King Parakramabahu is an incredible attraction, you must-visit during your visit to Polonnaruwa. The 11ft high statue carved from a large slab of rock believed to have built in the 12th century. Historical experts say that the figure belongs to one of the greatest Kings of the Polonnaruwa era, King Parakramabahu the great. Some argue that it's the figure of Pulasthi Rishi, the grandfather of King Ravana. The standing man in the statue holds an ancient manuscript on his hands. The upper part of his body is naked and is not wearing any jewellery. This confirms the idea that this statue might not be of a king.
