Kataragama area is full of sacred places and Sella Kataragama temple is one such place. Dedicated to Lord Ganesh, the god of Wisdom, the place is surrounded by the Menik River and it is a flooded place at some periods of the year. Baskets full of fruits as fruit offerings are a common sight at this Hindu temple.
