Sathmahal Prasada is another incredible historical attraction in the Polonnaruwa ancient city that will leave you in awe. Translating to English as ‘Seven-Storey Palace’, the build has had seven floors in the past. As it says, this structure is made with a great height. Sathmahal Prasada is important in architecture as it has been built following the shape of pyramids. With four entrances from four sides of the building, this mysterious palace has been a Buddhist monastery where monks have conducted some of their rituals according to archeologists. Its origin or the builder is still unknown. However, the place worth to make time for, for a short visit during your historical exploration in Polonnaruwa.
