Ratnaprasada or the Gem Palace is an important place situated in the Anuradhapura sacred city. Famous for its stone carved architectural designs, the palace was built in 2nd century AD. The main purpose of this building was to serve the novice monks to develop their spiritual strength. This structure still reveals that it had been a seven-storey skyscraper which is mind-blowing considering the technology they had at the time. Though this palace is in ruins now, there are still some pillars that indicate the pride of Ratnaprasada at the time.
