The Nine Arch Bridge, or Bridge in the Sky, is Sri Lanka's most famous railway monument. Standing close to the town of Ella in the center of the central highlands, this stunning viaduct was built in the British colonial period entirely of stone, bricks, and cement—no steel anywhere. Situated amidst coffee estates and dense greenery, the bridge offers a scintillating sight, even more so when a train glides under its arches, a lovely shot. Not a long hike on scenic paths is needed to take the visitors to this engineering wonder and a place worth visiting by nature trekkers, photographers, and train enthusiasts in general.
