Located in the ancient city of Anuradhapura, Mirisaveti stupa is another gigantic stupa special for Sri Lankan Buddhists with an exciting tale. Built by King Dutugemunu in the 2nd century B.C., it is said that King Dutugemunu had forgotten to serve a chilly curry for monks and he punished himself by building this stupa.
